Design & Build

The project involved the construction of a new motor retail and service centre along with a separate multi storey car storage deck. The site was originally a manufacturing operation for another occupier, Clegg stripped out and demolished the majority of the existing structures whilst retaining some of the structural steel frame.

The project incorporated the construction and fit out of the main showroom and servicing areas for the two independent and visually different brands. The Clegg team worked very closely with the designers and Sytner's own project staff to define and develop the appearance and finishes requirements to ensure the site would enjoy "flagship status" within Sytner's UK estate. In addition to the front of house sales and servicing areas a series of large car storage and preparation rooms were constructed including a separate and independent multi storey car deck area at the rear of the site.

Particular challenges of the work involved dealing with an adjacent railway line and liaising with network rail to ensure a safe construction method, responding to the condition of the existing structure as strip out and demolition work was completed and ensuring that the finishes, in particular floor tiling, ceilings and lighting meet the expectations of the client team.
