Technical Capacity & Quality

An unwavering commitment to quality

Through our collaborative, professional and quality-driven approach, Clegg strives to exceed expectations and standards on each and every project that we deliver.

We operate ISO9001-compliant QA systems and procedures for the management of our business functions, from pre-construction and planning to project completion and beyond.

To ensure the consistent delivery of excellent quality standards from pre-construction to project completion and beyond, we operate to a Quality Management System which has been externally accredited by a UKAS Assessor to ISO 9001:2008.

All projects undertaken by Clegg benefit from a detailed and site-specific project quality plan, developed by our HSEQ team and agreed upon in collaboration with clients, end users and other key stakeholders prior to the commencement of works on site. This ensures that every project benefits from mutually agreed quality processes and measures, including audits and inspection regimes, facilitating the internal and external measurement and monitoring of quality standards.

We have a skilled and experienced Design Management department, including 6 design managers with the necessary skills, competencies and behaviours to operate under the Building Safety Act. Utilisng a cloud-based Common Data Environment with designed workflows, we manage design/compliance processes, record the golden thread of information, and give our customers clear visibility of project information.

Design and Build

Most of our work is undertaken via a design and build procurement route; we are experienced at delivering projects from inception via Early Contractor Involvement as well as novated technical design.

Our holistic approach to design allows us to manage, critique and coordinate all elements of consultant and specialist contractor designs to ensure client specifications are properly achieved under the design and build contract.

Where value engineering or design changes are proposed we ensure that any consequential effects to other elements of the design are properly considered before implementation. Quality control, whole life considerations and sustainable principles are at the heart of the Clegg design and build ethos.

We are experienced at Level 2 BIM project delivery. At the heart of BIM Level 2 is information management. To excel in the discipline, we work with information management partners including Viewpoint to provide a BIM platform for project delivery.

Innovation

We embrace new systems and adopt modern methods of construction where appropriate to a project. The following are examples of our deployment of modern methods of construction:

  • Timber frame - Used on schools, care homes and hotels
  • Lightweight metal frame - Used on student accommodation
  • Modular construction - Used on student accommodation
  • Pods - Used on hotels and student accommodation
  • Modular building services - Used on office projects

Building services engineering

Our portfolio of completed projects includes a wide variety of technically advanced building services engineering solutions to control building environments and other elements such as a client's process requirements. Some examples of our work includes:

  • BS5454 archive storage, temperature and humidity controlled
  • Research and development 'dry-room'
  • Glove box installations
  • Laboratory gases
  • River-source heat pump
  • Biomass heating
  • BMS controlled night-time purging/thermal solutions

Conservation

Refurbishment work features stongly within our portfolio of completed projects and this includes conservation works to Listed Buildings where supply chain and material selection remain critical.

Our collaborative approach enables us to successfully progress the often sensitive matters associated with heritage refurbishment projects.
