Works complete at Provincial House

01 November 2017

An £8m student accommodation development in Sheffield has opened its doors.

The scheme for Empiric Student Property saw 107 rooms created at Provincial House in Solly Street in the city's St Vincent Quarter.

The Grade II Listed Property, a former presbytery built in 1874 which was turned into offices in the 1980s, was redeveloped with 24 boutique and one-bedroom apartments over four floors.

Three new blocks were also built on adjoining land to create a further 83 rooms.

The development also includes facilities including a gym, cinema, laundry and common room areas.

The development is in the Well Meadow Conservation Area and close to the University of Sheffield's North Campus.

Works began in June 2016 and was handed over in time for students from the city's two universities to move in for the start of the new 2017/18 academic year.

Our Managing Director, Simon Blackburn, comments:

"This really was a fantastic project to work on and the building looks stunning. It was a challenging scheme as we needed to preserve the heritage of Provincial House. The development is really impressive, delivering students a wide range of accommodation as well as communal facilities and amenities. Student property has been and remains a key market for us."
