Topping out ceremony at wolverhampton

Clegg Construction's Managing Director Simon Blackburn was delighted to attend the official topping out ceremony for the University of Wolverhampton's new £10.1million Science, Technology and Prototyping Centre.

The Design & Build project, built within the University’s existing Science Park, will offer 4,000 sq.m of high quality managed office spaces along with laboratories and workshops. The reinforced concrete building main elevation features a floor to ceiling fully glazed atrium, providing a focal point for the building’s users, who will also have access to numerous breakout areas and a cafe.

Each floor offers flexible space including future expansion offices for science-based businesses. The top floor features laboratories; a service goods lift is accessible from the new car park, which will link to the existing infrastructure.

The building is being delivered to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ Rating and employs low carbon technology in terms of photovoltaic panels along with exposed concrete structure to reduce energy demand in heating and cooling the building.

Simon comments: “The building is progressing well, and will be handed over next year during spring. Clegg Construction is delighted to be involved in such an important project for the University of Wolverhampton and I was pleased to hear such fantastic feedback about the building during the ceremony.”
