Simon Blackburn Managing Director Joining in 2002 and becoming Managing Director two years later, Simon takes a hands-on approach to the daily running of Clegg Construction. One of three business owners, Simon is responsible for the development of our business strategy and promoting a collaborative culture which transcends through the organisation. A fundamental aspect of his role is being visible and available to clients and staff to provide ongoing support. His interests include travel, cooking, shooting clays and country walks with his wife and their Labrador. Ross Crowcroft Pre-Construction Director Ross is responsible for new business development, pre-construction functions and frameworks at Clegg Construction. With a background in Project Management and Surveying his project experience includes residential, leisure, public sector, retail, F&B and commercial development. He leads a pre-construction team that includes estimating, planning, business development and marketing in order to secure new work for Clegg Construction and to maintain and extend existing client relationships. Darren Chapman Operations Director Darren Chapman joined Clegg Construction in early 2023, bringing with him over 25 years' industry experience. As Operations Director, Darren is responsible for planning, production and successful delivery of all projects. In addition, Darren manages aspects of our business, such as community involvement along with skills and employment. Outside work, Darren enjoys all things fitness-related, including attending spinning classes at least 4 times a week. Michael Sims Commercial Director Michael joined Clegg Construction in spring 2021 as Commercial Manager, bringing to the business over 20 years of industry experience with key expertise in commercial and risk management and contract negotiation. Outside work, Michael is a keen sailor who enjoys spending time with his family and two young daughters Gary Shout Group Health, Safety and Environmental Manager Gary spent over 25 years’ in the Army before embarking on a career in construction health and safety in 2002. He is responsible for the strategic management of all areas of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. Through Gary’s commitment and leadership, Clegg Construction has continued to maintain an above industry standard health and safety record, surpassed challenging waste recycling targets, enforced robust environmental safeguarding procedures and delivered client quality aspirations. Gary holds a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health and is a Chartered Member of IOSH. When he isn’t ensuring a safe and clean environment, Gary’s interests include travel, fishing and supporting local village activities. Mark Hyde Business Development Manager Working between our Nottingham and Cambridge office, Mark is responsible for the growth of new business throughout the Midlands and East of England. A key part to Mark’s role is developing relationships with clients and increasing the market awareness of all sectors Clegg Construction work in. Over the last twelve years in working in the construction industry he has been involved on various education, manufacturing, residential and logistics projects; this has helped Mark gain useful insight into our various clients’ aspirations and project drivers.
