Set in the heart of Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, this project was the refurbishment and repair of a three storey Grade II Listed Building to form a new free school.
Attended by 100 students, the school features a media studio in the basement. Other works included structural repairs and alterations, insertion of a lift and staircases and a new teaching kitchen at the rear of the premises.
A new catering facility was also created which provides a training kitchen to teach food hygiene and other hospitality courses – a restaurant is also open to the public.
The state-funded school is run by education charity Stone Soup, and will provide places for students aged between 11 and 19. The school has been structured to nurture the social development of all students, many of whom experience significant disadvantage.
